WCW Title Tournament Match Semi-Final Match
Chris Benoit d. Jeff Jarrett

Things started out in a big way as the first of two semi-final matches got underway. Jarrett and Benoit, both debuting new ring music, were primed and ready for this all-important bout. Jarrett attacked at the bell, but Benoit fired right back, trying to end it early. As the action spilled out on the floor, Jarrett ran Benoit, groin first into the steel ring post. Bringing things back inside, the self proclaimed "Chosen One" wore The Crippler down, punishing him around the ring. Benoit reversed a sleeper hold into one of his own, but was quickly dropped, jaw first, across the head of Jarrett. Creative Control made their way to the ringside area as Jarrett threw Benoit over the ropes to the floor. Jeff brought Benoit back in and a series of near falls ensued. Benoit delivered a diving headbutt from the top, but as he attempted a pinfall, Creative Control pulled him off, breaking up the count. Jarrett laid The Crippler out and went for the pin, but Dustin Rhodes, out of the stands, broke it up. In the end, it was Chris Benoit, after a failed guitar shot by Creative Control, who got the guitar and drove it over the head of Jarrett, getting the pin and advancing in the tournament. After the match, Creative Control attacked Benoit in the ring, but were run off by Rhodes.

Interview: Disco Inferno

As Mike Tenay talked with Disco behind the curtain, Creative Control and Jarrett came back from the ring and took out their frustrations on the dancing one. Disco was beat down, but Tony Marinara insisted that Inferno make it to the ring for his Cruiserweight title match.

WCW Cruiserweight Title v. $25,000
Evan Karagias d. Disco Inferno

Karagias, with the beautiful Madusa at his side, waited for Disco to slowly make it to the ring. Once in, Inferno was a punching bag for the fresh Karagias, as Tony Marinara took a seat at the ringside broadcast table. Disco threw Evan onto the floor and jumped off the apron onto him, only to be met with a Karagias dropkick. Disco approached Madusa at ringside, but was slapped across the face. Marinara got up and hit on Madusa, but was stopped by an incensed Karagias. This distraction allowed Disco to sneak around with a steel chair, but hit Marinara in the head by accident. Back inside, Evan scored the pin over a distraught Disco, winning his first WCW championship.

The "Powers That Be" gave Jeff Jarrett a tongue lashing in the dressing room area and told Jeff that he had until the end of the night to prove his worth or consider his favors over.

Interview: Screamin' Norman Smiley

Norman told Mean Gene that he was ready for any hardcore action, but jumped, scared to death, as someone dropped something in the background, startling him.

WCW Hardcore Title Match
Norman Smiley d. Brian Knobs w/ Jimmy Hart

Knobs and Hart came to the ring with a barrel full of plunder for the big title match. Norman, as if he wasn't already the favorite, came to the ring with a Toronto Maple Leafs jersey. The two went at it full force from the get go, using any and all objects that Hart threw into the ring. The fight led down the aisle and into the back, not letting up at all. After exchanging broomstick and garbage can shots, Knobs threw Smiley into a table in the hallway. Jimmy Hart was throwing food cans at Smiley as both men made their way into an elevator. The door shut and when it opened, Hart hit Knobs by accident with a garbage can, allowing Smiley to gain the pin and become the first ever WCW Hardcore Champion. After the pin, Knobs threw Hart across the room and attacked Norman.

Interview: The Revolution

The Revolution told Mike Tenay that they were going to exterminate The Filthy Animals. Saturn said it would be like what man did to the dinosaurs.

Interview: The Filthy Animals

The Animals talked with Mean Gene and told him that they weren't afraid of The Revolution. Torrie said she couldn't wait to get her hands on Asya.

As Disco apologized to Tony Marinara in the dressing room, Tony told him that he would have to deal with "the boys" now.

Jarrett and Creative Control were hunting the back hallway, 2 X 4 in hand.

Elimination Tag Team Match

The Revolution w/ Asya d. The Filthy Animals w/ Torrie
The Revolution and The Animals fought back and forth, with their continuing feud showing no sign of slowing down. A fan at ringside poked Malenko with a flagstaff and was immediately thrown out. Torrie and Asya finally made it into the ring and went at it with Torrie pulling the Revolution bodyguard down by her hair. With all six in the ring, and Eddie helping Torrie in the corner, Kidman was pinned in the center. Kidman and Guerrero got into a shoving match, with Kidman storming out. Showing her strength, Asya took Guerrero up in the air for a high vertical suplex. Malenko was tagged in and pinned, eliminating him from the match and bringing it down to a 2 on 2 contest. Guerrero came down with a frogsplash on Asya, taking her out of the match. Guerrero and Saturn battled intensely, with both men fighting for bragging rights of their respective teams. Finally, it was the Rings of Saturn putting away Eddie and leaving Torrie to face Saturn one on one. She valiantly caught Perry with a low kick and got a near fall. As Shane Douglas came onto the apron, Saturn returned the favor, catching her with a low blow, scoring the win for The Revolution.

Jeff Jarrett and Creative Control attacked Buff Bagwell in the dressing room, leaving him lying on the floor before his big match.

Career v. Career Match
Buff Bagwell d. Curt Hennig

Hennig waited in the ring, as Bagwell's music played, but he did not arrive. As the music was restarted, Jarrett and CC ran in and attacked Hennig. Buff ran in with a 2 X 4 and cleared the ring of the Powers' henchmen. Hennig, knowing his career was on the line, jumped Bagwell, the man who just saved him, starting the match. The match poured in and out of the ring, with both men fighting for their livelihood. Hennig slowed things down with a sleeper hold in the center of the ring, and Buff barely held on. Hennig continued to punish Bagwell, taking the youngster from one corner to the other. As Curt threw Buff into the corner and charged in, Bagwell delivered up a foot to the face. Bagwell then quickly went to the top and delivered his Blockbuster for the surprising win, ending Hennig's career. After the match, in a tremendous show of respect, the crowd sent Hennig off with a standing ovation, celebrating his outstanding career.

Interview: Sting

Sting told Mean Gene that he was ready for Bret Hart but if it weren't for the "Powers That Be," the tournament wouldn't be taking place to begin with.

WCW Title Tournament Match - Semi-Final Match
Bret Hart d. Sting

Bret entered the ring with a Wayne Gretzky jersey on, honoring The Great One, who would be inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame the next day. The match started as a slugfest, with neither man gaining the sure advantage. The fans were totally behind their fellow countryman and showed their disdain for Sting as he shot a cheap low blow on The Hitman. The fight took to the broadcast table and Tony and The Brain headed for higher ground. The referee went down and The Total Package and Elizabeth entered the ring, attacking Sting with the baseball bat. Hart got up and saved The Stinger, putting Package in the Sharpshooter. The referee Mickey Jay got up and disqualified Sting for outside interference. Bret, not wanting to win that way, requested that the match be restarted. The referee agreed, and the match was back on. Sting captured Hart in the Scorpion Deathlock, but miraculously, Bret reversed it into a Sharpshooter and Sting tapped out, surrendering his chance at the WCW gold. After the match, Sting called Hart back in the ring and shook his hand.

Interview: Chris Benoit

Benoit told Gene that the last time he and Hart fought, it was in honor of Owen. This time Bret would have to prove why he is the best there is, best there was, and best there ever will be.

Interview: The Total Package w/ Elizabeth

Package, wearing a cervical collar on his neck, said that due to the carelessness of Bret Hart and his attack, he would not be able to participate in his match against Meng.

Chain Match
Vampiro w/ Jerry Only d. Berlyn w/ The Wall

As Vampiro and Berlyn prepared for the match, Dr. Death Steve Williams and "Oklahoma" made their way to the commentator's booth. Before the chain could be connected to Berlyn, The Wall attacked Vampiro in the ring as Berlyn taped Jerry Only to the ring barrier on the outside. The Wall, who put the collar on and delivered a devastating chokeslam to Vampiro, was pulled off by his own man Berlyn. The Wall took off the chain and walked out of the ring, leaving Berlyn to face Vampiro alone. In the ring, Vampiro applied a camel clutch with the chain around the neck to Berlyn and, risking permanent injury, the German tyrant tapped out, giving the win to Vampiro. After he match, Dr. Death attacked Jerry Only and Vampiro in the ring.

Interview: Scott Hall

Hall, who was awarded the WCW TV Title as a result of a forfeit by an injured Rick Steiner, told Mike Tenay that he challenged anyone in the dressing room to fight him down there ... you know where.

Curt Hennig was shown leaving the building as the other wrestlers said their good-byes to him.

Kimberly was seen entering the building for her match later on against David Flair.

Meng d. The Total Package w/ Elizabeth

Total Package, being forced to wrestle by the "Powers That Be," made his way to the ring, neck brace securely in place. Tony brought up that maybe Package was wearing the brace to thwart the Tongan Death Grip of Meng. Meng destroyed Package, taking him apart with big chops and massive headbutts. As the combatants were hanging out of the ring, Elizabeth sprayed something into the eyes of Package, missing her intended target of Meng. Liz took off and Meng removed the brace and applied the Tongan Death Grip for the pinfall victory.

Interview: Bret Hart

Mean Gene asked Hart what he thought about facing his good friend Chris Benoit in the finals of the tournament. Bret said that friendship or not, he would give the Canadian fans the action they came to see.

David Flair was shown in the back hallway polishing his crowbar.

World TV And US Title Match
Scott Hall d. Booker T

Scott Hall came to the ring with both the US and the TV Titles around his waist, said that he and "Big Kev" were gonna turn Toronto upside down. He challenged anyone from the back to come out and face him for both belts. Harlem Heat's music played and Booker T came to the ring to answer the challenge. Booker was a house of fire, sending Hall to the outside to regroup. Back in, Hall delivered a big chokeslam, followed by a fall away slam, sending Booker T crashing to the canvas. Hall applied a sleeper as Jeff Jarrett and Creative Control made their way to ringside. With the referee distracted by Jarrett, Booker fought off the attack of CC, but was caught in the Outsider's Edge, giving Hall the win. After the match, Creative Control attacked Booker and the lights went out. When they came back on, Midnight, the lady that has been running in to save Booker T lately, appeared and helped T run off Patrick and Gerald.

The Total Package was shown in the back looking for Elizabeth, who was obviously hiding after her plan backfired.

A video package aired, recapping the happenings leading up to the David Flair/Kimberly matchup.

David Flair v. Kimberly - No Contest

Flair made his way to the ring, crowbar in hand. Kimberly came out and looking confident as ever. As Kim stretched in the corner, Flair moved in and was kicked low. This however, didn't affect him, as he was wearing a protective cup. Flair hit the referee Nick Patrick with the crowbar and moved in. This time, Kimberly dropped to her knees and begged for forgiveness. As he paused in uncertainty, she reached down his pants and pulled out the cup, delivering a kick between the legs. She continued to kick him, but Flair recovered and as he moved in for the certain attack, Kanyon arrived, saving Kim from her inevitable beating. DDP also limped his way to the ring and delivered Flair a Diamond Cutter. DDP, about to finish Flair off, was stopped by Arn Anderson, who ran in to save David. As Page, Kim, and Kanyon left the ring, Flair got up and snapped, attacking Arn with the crowbar. The EMTs attended to Anderson in the ring and Flair made his escape through the crowd.

Interview: Sid Vicious

Sid asked Tenay if he really thought he would say "I Quit" to Bill Goldberg. Vicious said that Goldberg would find out why Sid was the master and the ruler of the world.

I Quit Match
Goldberg d. Sid Vicious

Both men went at it from the bell, taking the fight to the ringside floor. As the action made it's way back in, Sid dropped Goldberg with a cobra clutch slam. Vicious continued his assault on Bill, chokeslamming him in the middle of the ring. A second attempt and a second chokeslam followed. Sid screamed for the ref to ask Goldberg for submission, but to no avail. Goldberg took control, beating big Sid into the mat. Goldberg applied a cobra clutch hold and as he tightened it on, Sid lost consciousness, and the referee Mickey Jay called for the bell, giving the win to Goldberg.

Interview: The Total Package

Package told Mean Gene that if Gene saw Elizabeth, to tell her to watch her back because he doesn't get mad, he gets even.

WCW Title Tournament - Final Match
Bret Hart d. Chris Benoit

It was a Canadian main event for the WCW World Title and the Toronto crowd loved it. Both men shook hands and the match was underway. The technical expertise of Bret was evident as he wore The Crippler down with submission holds. A mat technician himself, Benoit countered Hart and sent him to the canvas. As Bret went for the Sharpshooter, Benoit squirmed out of it and was able to put on the Crippler Crossface. Bret, the ring general that he is, was near enough to the ropes to break the hold. Benoit was sent out to the floor and a fan, sporting a Canadian hockey jersey and wearing face paint, jumped the rail and attacked Benoit with a flagstaff. The assailant was Dean Malenko and as he spit on Benoit, Bret came out of the ring for the save and security led The Iceman away. As the match continued in the ring, Benoit caught Hart with a tombstone piledriver. After Benoit delivered a diving headbutt, Hall and Nash pulled referee Charles Robinson out of the ring and knocked him cold. The Outsiders entered the ring and as Hall attacked Benoit, Nash moved in on Hart. Goldberg ran in for the save and chased The Outsiders out and to the back, where they continued to brawl. In the ring, the match still went on as The Crippler went to work on Hart's bad leg. Hart gave Benoit a massive superplex from the top, rocking The Crippler to the canvas. Everything Bret had for Benoit however, Chris was still able to kick out every time. Benoit delivered two German suplexes and went for the Crippler Crossface. Hart shook the attempt off and was able to apply the Sharpshooter to become the WCW World Heavyweight Champion for the first time in front of his home country.
